Join us for a day of impactful dialogue during Climate Week NYC 2025
You are warmly invited to join Hydro at The Place for Dialogue on Tuesday, September 23, in NYC. The place where voices, ranging from industry leaders, decision makers, sustainability advocates, peace makers and community representatives, come together in conversation to discuss globally important issues and challenges. Through fostering dialogue, we explore topics that include the role of circularity in a just and resilient future, the power of dialogue for progress, and beyond carbon strategies on the road to COP30. Hosted by Hydro and the Nobel Peace Center, this event will convene a diverse group of leaders from government, industry and academia, and civil society to discuss the importance of critical minerals and recycling in the climate agenda.Panelists will examine the geopolitical landscape surrounding critical minerals, and the crucial need to align business practices and policies with principles of justice and human rights.This will set the backdrop for the domestic case for building a resilient circular economy and the strategic importance of recycling, exploring how to create a robust and sustainable critical minerals ecosystem within the U.S.

In partnership with the Nobel Peace Center, this session will be a rich conversation on the transformative power of dialogue in tackling complex global challenges. Hear from David Beasley, former Executive Director of the World Food Programme, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate 2020, and Ilwad Elman, a social entrepreneur, peacebuilder and director of the Elman Peace Center for an inspirational session.

Presenting the Brazilian vision for integrating sustainable development with conservation, highlighting the region’s pivotal role in shaping solutions that address both environmental preservation and inclusive growth, contextualizing the unique significance of hosting COP30 in the Amazon for global climate discussions.
01:30 PM – 03:30 PM - Decarbonization strategies
Focusing on industrial transformation from the Amazon, this session will present concrete strategies for industrial decarbonization, highlight how the region can lead the global energy transition, and connect public policy with on-the-ground corporate implementation. The discussion will showcase successful case studies from carbon-intensive sectors offering actionable pathways toward a low-carbon future.
03:00 PM – 04:30 PM - COP30 in the Amazon: Beyond carbon strategies
On the road to COP30 in the Amazon, this high-level discussion will explore strategies for decarbonization and move beyond carbon to address integrated socio-environmental challenges. The session will amplify voices of traditional communities and Amazonian youth, showcase holistic approaches to corporate sustainability, and connect social justice with bold climate action.

01:30 PM - 02:30 PM - Snøhetta: In dialogue with nature
Snøhetta keynote on the role of architecture in shaping environmental and social sustainability. A lecture with Craig Dykers, founding partner of the global renowned architecture firm Snøhetta. Dykers will talk about the practice’s approach to sustainable design and bold forms of innovation in architecture, landscape architecture, and interior architecture, sharing how Snøhetta’s methodology and principles on climate adaptation, circular design, and social equity inform a transdiscplinary and deeply collaborative design process.

A celebration of local traditions in the Amazon. The photo exhibition is a result of a workshop with Indigenous peoples from the Amazon, providing a lens to approach cultural preservation and a legacy that both honors and celebrates local traditions.
